You may not recognize the name Bailee Sanders, but she’s at every Friday night football game home or away. It’s her responsibility, along with the other members of her cheerleading squad, to get the crowd fired up. No matter what the margin is on the scoreboard, Bailee will be there to try and get the crowd motivated.
“I have had Bailee for four years as a cheerleader,” cheerleading sponsor Nicole Nielson says. She is one of my three seniors and has really stepped up in her leadership role as a senior.”
Having grown up in Paris and attended North Lamar her whole life, Bailee has a lot of pride and love for her school. That’s the one thing she wants North Lamar to remember her for. Even though she’s been cheering since the 7th grade, her favorite part is standing on the sidelines on Friday night’s cheering on the Panthers.
Cheering isn’t the only sport Bailee is involved in, however. She’s also part of the golf team at North Lamar. She’s been playing golf at North Lamar since her freshman year.
“Getting to bond with other players from different schools and having bonding time with my dad,” she says about her favorite part of golf.
Golf coach Chris Clark praises Bailee and says he can’t wait to get her back on the course this coming spring for her senior year.
“I feel that I should be a leader as in guiding the younger cheerleaders and helping them as much as I can,” Bailee says. “With other things besides cheer too, as in school or just problems with life. I like to think I’m close with my team outside of cheer as well.”
When she’s not cheering on the Panthers and Pantherettes, Bailee can probably found reading, working out or doing photography. She likes listening to music and spending time with friends as well. On Sunday’s she teaches a kindergarten Sunday School class at Christian Fellowship church.
She is hoping to attend Texas A&M or Oklahoma University after she graduates from North Lamar. She’s already received an acceptance letter to OU. She’s still waiting to hear from A&M. She has plans to become an oncologist.
Congratulations to Bailee Sanders for being named this week’s Guaranty Bank and Trust Athlete of the Week
