As a fan, when you watch a North Lamar sporting event, you have the luxury of cheering when they’re doing good. You also have the luxury of leaving if the team is getting blown out or if they’re blowing out the opponent. That’s where this week’s athlete of the week comes in to play. As a cheerleader, it’s Jamielynn Parker’s responsibilty to keep the fans engaged in the game. You can find her at every football game cheering her heart out.
Jamielynn has been a cheerleader since her freshman year. She also plays soccer and does track. Last year she ran the 800, did the high jump and the triple jump as well.
”Getting people pumped for the game and seeing the little kids smile when we throw things to them.” - Jamielynn says when asked what her favorite thing about being a cheerleader is.
Although she’s always lived in Paris, she hasn’t always attended North Lamar. Jamielynn was in the Paris ISD from Kindergarten until fifth grade. She moved to North Lamar in her sixth grade year and has been there ever since.
For fun, Jamielynn works with kids at Texas Tumbling and at Britney’s Steppin Out Dance Studio.
”I love it. They are always happy and make me laugh.” - Jamielynn Parker
After high school is over, she says she would like to attend Texas Tech and get a degree in nursing. Here is a list of Jamielynn’s favorite things:
Food - Spaghetti
Restaurant - Olive Garden
Song - Don’t Have One
Band/singer - Don’t Have One
Color - Pink
TV Show - One Tree Hill Movie - We Are Marshall
Book - Don’t Have One Subject in School - Science
If you could go one place on earth, where would it be? I would go to Paris, France and see the other Eiffel Tower.
