Some would say having a sister dominate a certain sport might make it harder for siblings to compete. That’s not the case for Jacie McFatridge, though. Watching her sister Ashleigh destroy the competition only fueled the fire for Jacie.
The senior started playing volleyball in the fourth grade. It’s when she started watching her sister, though, that she decided she wanted to play. Jacie says she feels some pressure because of her sister’s great career at North Lamar but that she also looks up to Ashleigh for that.
After a slow start in which the Pantherettes lost their first two district games, they have turned it around and currently are 5-3. Part of that is because of the bond they have developed together according to McFatridge.
”We started out very slow, but have finally got on track,” Jacie says. “We started playing as one unit instead of six units.”
When Jacie isn’t playing volleyball she likes to hang out with family and friends. After graduation she would like to become a dental hygienist while continuing her volleyball career.
