When it comes to high school sports, Madelyn Clark is no stranger. The junior plays volleyball, basketball, softball and golf for North Lamar.

”I like volleyball and basketball the best,” she says. “It’s hard to choose between them.”

Right now, though, it’s all about volleyball as the Pantherettes are in the middle of district play. Madelyn started playing volleyball in the fourth grade as part of the little spikers. Part of the thing that has kept her playing volleyball is the competitiveness and how fast paced the game can be.

”We are a new team that has had to overcome a lot of obstacles,” Clark says. “We have a lot of potential and we just have to keep working hard every day to get to where we want to be.”

Both of Madelyn’s parents work at the school, which has it’s pros and cons according to her.

”It allows them to always be at my games and to be able to support me through everything. They also understand the crazy schedule and lifestyle because they are living it too,” she explains.

She also knows there are extra eyes on her as she is held to a higher standard. It’s thanks to her dad, though, that got her into golf. He played in high school. Her grandpa also plays a lot. Through both of them, she was introduced to the sport at a young age. When she played as a freshman, her dad was coaching the team.

”I was really excited to get to play for him and experience that.” - Madelyn Clark

After she graduates, she is thinking about becoming a physical therapist and she is looking into going to Texas A&M. Besides all the sports she plays, Madelyn is also in Beta, Student Council, and FCA. When she’s not at school, she loves to hang out with her friends and family. She also says loves to “watch college football.”
