The same thing that carried North Lamar through district is what has sustained them through the first two rounds of the playoffs. In two games so far in the postseason, North Lamar has not allowed a run. A major reason for that is the play of Kevin Dickey.
Dickey, against Mabank, pitched seven innings. He allowed no runs on one hit while striking out 14 in the 3-0 victory. Mixing a variety of pitches, the North Lamar senior fooled the Mabank hitters all night. The only hit came in the sixth inning off Kevin.
The Panthers managed nine hits in the victory. They opened the scoring in the top of the fifth inning when Brayden Steed scored on an error by the Mabank left fielder.
North Lamar would add two more runs in the seventh inning. It started when Matt Gibbons doubled to open the inning. He would come around and score when Sam Cowling singled to right field. Cowling would come around and score when Trey Scudder reached on a fielder's choice.
With the win, North Lamar advances to the Regional Quarterfinals and will play Athens. Times and locations have yet to be determined.
