It was the perfect setting for a perfect ending. Standing just inside the Dallas Mavericks logo, Levi Porter dribbled with less than ten seconds to play.

North Lamar trailed 51-50 to the Melissa Cardinals. Levi waited until there was about six seconds left on the clock and he made his move. Driving to his right, he floated the ball high off the glass. It came down off the rim and bounced away from the goal.

Julique Franklin was there for the rebound. His attempt was also no good. Menderiz Gray jumped up and tipped the ball. A split second after the ball left his hand the buzzer sounded. A split second later, the ball crashed through the hoop for an incredible one-point victory over Melissa.

”We didn’t box out well. We didn’t rebound well, but when it’s all said and done, we found a way to win.” - Coach Homer Garner

The game was back and forth pretty much the entire time. North Lamar jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead, but Melissa came storming back. From that point on, the lead never got bigger than five for either team.

Versache Buchanan led all scorers with 19 points. Levi had 17 for North Lamar.
