The North Lamar Panthers accomplished goal number one Tuesday morning as they finished Pool Play in the Paris Holiday Basketball Tournament. The Panthers were paired with Daingerfield, Mabank and Waxahachie Life in Pool B. The tournament is set up so that the top two teams in each pool advance to the Championship Bracket, while the 3rd place teams move to the Gold Bracket and the fourth place teams to the Silver Bracket.
North Lamar advanced to the Championship Bracket after sweeping through thier pool. The Panthers defeated Daingerfield 48-43 in thier first game. They defeated Waxahachie Life 52-4 1 and Mabank 64-52.

After trailing early, the North Lamar Panthers used a 15-6 second quarter advantage to take the lead on Daingerfield. The second half was back and forth but the Panthers were able to hold on for the victory.

North Lamar got off to a rough start against Waxahachie Life as they missed their first seven field goals of the game. They only finished with five points in the first quarter as they trailed 12-5. However, thanks to Versache Buchanan's hot hand, the Panthers out scored Waxahachie 24-7 in the second quarter. Waxahachie Life cut the 10-point halftime deficit to four after three quarters, however North Lamar was able to pull away in the fourth to secure the victory.

On Tuesday morning, the North Lamar Panthers watched Mabank shoot 43.2% from the field, including 41.7% behind the arc. However, North Lamar came away with the 12 point victory thanks to some huge rebounding efforts. The Panthers out rebounded Mabank 37-14. Of the 37 boards, 20 of them came on the offensive side which led to 21 more shots for North Lamar. The Panthers were never in real danger against Mabank, however the game never got out of hand either. Mabank used precision shooting to hang around with the Panthers, but it wasn't enough as North Lamar got the victory.

North Lamar will play in the championship bracket beginning Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. Their opponent is yet to be determined. All games in the championship bracket will played in the main gym.
