The North Lamar Panthers entered Tuesday night's game against the Pittsburg Pirates with second place in District 15-4A already locked up. Paris High, by virtue of their undefeated record, had clinched first place already, so there was no way the Panthers could move up or down in seeding.
It was Senior night, though, and because of that, North Lamar had a lot to play for. Not only was pride on the line for the seniors and their last night playing in Panther gym, but they also wanted to be playing their best going into the playoffs.
After a convincing 77-38 win, a case could be made they are playing their best basketball. North Lamar dominated on both ends of the floor as they hassled the Pirates offense all night long.
Offensively, North Lamar controlled the game inside the paint and from the perimeter. North Lamar hit five three-pointers on the night. The shots they missed, though, Hunter Sartor was there to clean up on the offensive glass. Sartor had 15 rebounds to go with his 18 points.
Levi Porter also had 18 points on the night. The other two players in double figures for North Lamar was Tyler Anthony with 11 points and Samaki Walker with 10.
The Panthers jumped out early on Pittsburg as they led 24-10 after the first quarter. The score just kept climbing after that as North Lamar led by 21 at half, 32 after three and then 39 for the final.
North Lamar now moves onto the playoffs. They will face Bullard in their Bi-District matchup. A time and location has not been determined at this time.
