The North Lamar Pantherettes have struggled scoring early in ball games during district. Coming into their matchup with Paris High, the Pantherettes had scored 23 points combined in the first half. If they wanted to change those fortunes, Monday was a good place to start.

North Lamar and Paris traded baskets for much of the first quarter and Paris held a 10-8 lead nearing the end. Alex Honeywood, however, hit a three pointer as time expired to give the Pantherettes a one point lead going into the second.

From that point forward the defense of North Lamar clamped down as Paris would only score 15 points the rest of the game. North Lamar would score 38 on their way to a 49-25 victory. Not only did Paris only score 15 points, they only scored one field goal in the second half.

One thing North Lamar did better then they have is moving the ball. North Lamar moved the ball efficiently to get the ball to the open player on the court. Once that happened, the open player was hitting down the shots more times than not. Players like Michaela Smith who knocked down three from behind the arc for North Lamar.

"We've been working on our ball movement a little more. Today in practice we talked about how to get the ball in places...we've really tried working on getting the ball where it's supposed to go." - Brett Harp on his team's ball movement.

Another thing that's hurt the Pantherettes was early foul trouble. That wasn't the case Monday night as they played a very clean game on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

With the win, North Lamar moves to 2-2 in district and will finish off the first half of district on the road Friday at Pleasant Grove.
