It wasn't the prettiest game the North Lamar Pantherettes have ever played but it was a victory none the less. North Lamar and Clarksville traded turnovers throughout game before the Pantherettes finally won the game 56-48.
The teams had 42 combined turnovers. With Clarksville having 25 of those. Both teams got off to a slow offensive start as the Pantherettes led 8-4 after one.
"The turnovers where we are passing the ball up the floor, I can take those, because they're aggressive turnovers. The one's we need to cut back on are the more passive turnovers." - Coach Brett Harp
Things seemed like they might go from bad to worse when senior Bill Jones went down with an ankle injury in the second quarter. She wouldn't return to the game.
Sydnee Prunty and Sierra Rice filled in nicely down low in her absence. Sierra had seven points and five rebounds while Sydnee had three points and four rebounds. However, the defense they played down low won't show up in the box score.
Prunty had some clutch free throws in the third quarter along with a couple of deflections that caused fast break opportunities for North Lamar. Sierra used her length to cause problems on the boards. Several rebounds she could have gotten but she pinned her player so that someone else could grab the rebound.
North Lamar will start district play on Friday night at Liberty Eylau. The Pantherettes will try to defend their 2015 district title in which they went 9-1 in district play.
