North Lamar to Honor Veterans at Annual Programs

Wednesday, November 11 marks the anniversary of the end of World War I and honors United States veterans and victims of all wars.  This public holiday will be celebrated at North Lamar Independent School District and invites all veterans and community members to attend.

On Wednesday, November 11, the North Lamar Beta Club invites veterans and guest to a coffee reception at 8:15 a.m. in the NLHS library.  A patriotic program will follow in the gym at 9:30 a.m. with the award winning NLHS choir and band performing selections depicting our country’s pride and loyalty.  Beta students will honor those men and women who have served or currently serve in our armed forces. 

Aaron Parker Elementary will honor veterans at their annual Veterans Day program on Thursday, November 12 at 10:00 a.m. with a program in the gym.  Following the program, veterans and guests are invited to stay for a Thanksgiving lunch that will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Parents and grandparents may also enjoy accompanying their child or grandchild to the book fair that will be held in the library.

North Lamar High School 2002 graduate and retired veteran, Leah Morales, who currently is a Financial Aid Administrator and manages the Veteran Services Office at Texas A&M University in College Station, will be the keynote speaker for both the NLHS and Parker programs.
