North Lamar’s Chenevey Named Academic All-American

North Lamar High School senior Jared Chenevey has been named an Academic All-American by the National Speech and Debate Association.

“Requirements for this award are strenuous,” said Speech and Debate Coach Kristi Hodgkiss.   Recipients of the award must have a 3.7 GPA (on a 4.0 scale), score a 27 or higher on the ACT or a 2000 or higher on the SAT, and have a degree of superior distinction in the NSDA (which requires 750 points; winning a debate round is worth 6 points). Chenevey holds a degree of premier distinction with 1,539 points.

“Jared is only the third student in North Lamar's history to receive the award,” said Hodgkiss.
