Second and third graders were not yet born when terrorists attacked the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001. However, those teaching them do remember that day and probably can recount exactly what they were doing upon hearing the news. Last week teachers from across the country used 911 as a teaching moment to recount what they remember of that horrific day and to share courageous stories of our nation’s first responders.
Everett Elementary 2nd and 3rd grade classes were among those who took part in learning from their teachers of that memorable day in history. Above, Sara Sherwood’s 3rd grade and Jennifer Haynie’s 2nd grade classes display projects they completed while learning about 911.
