North Lamar ISD Superintendent John McCullough received official word from the Paris Lamar County Health Department that tests results taken from a student at North Lamar High School came back negative for meningitis. Upon the recommendation from the health department, North Lamar took precautionary measures to protect students and staff on Thursday, December 8 by notifying the district’s families with its Panther Alert system of the possible exposure to the infection. The message listed the symptoms of meningitis and advised all to contact their health care provider should symptoms be evident. The health department has been in good communication with North Lamar advising on the necessary precautions to take along the way.
“We want to thank the Paris Lamar County Health Department for being in constant contact with us and the North Lamar nurses for their proactive efforts in monitoring our students,” said McCullough. “We also want to thank our parents and students for their understanding and trust as we move forward to get further information.”
