The North Lamar Education Foundation is bringing back its annual ‘Tailgating for Scholarships’ to raise money for North Lamar graduating seniors. In its sixth year, the event will take placeSaturday, October 15 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Love Civic Center.
“One of the biggest celebrations of any college campus is tailgating outside a stadium packed with fans cheering on their favorite team,” said Kristi Trammell, NLEF event chairperson. “Taking part in the spirited fun, sampling the best in homemade cuisine and mingling among old and new friends is about as American as you can get. And, any former college student who participated in tailgating will tell you that it’s one of their most favorite campus memory.”
The North Lamar Education Foundation Tailgate Party offers a venue for families and supporters to enjoy.
“It’s a casual event with everyone wearing college attire, and it’s a fun way to raise money for North Lamar students,” said Trammell. “We’re excited about the tailgates we already have lined up. Of course, anyone who wants their alma mater represented is welcomed to join in on the fun.”
Colleges and universities represented to date are the University of Oklahoma, Baylor University, Paris Junior College, Sam Houston State University, Tarleton State University, Stephen F. Austin State University, Texas Tech University and University of Arkansas.
Trammel added, “Tailgaters will have the opportunity to vote on the best tailgate whether it’s cuisine, spirit, or alumni showing their school pride. The winner will have a scholarship given to one deserving recipient in the name of the school.” Applications for NLEF scholarships are available in the spring to all North Lamar seniors.
