Panthers Win Home Opener

After a weekend tournament filled with adversity, North Lamar came into their home opener on Tuesday with an opportunity to regain their momentum. The Panthers' (2-2-1) opponent was Community, setting up a rematch of the season opener.

NL struggled throughout the match with sluggish play and miscues but were tied late in the second half thanks to a goal by Jesper Engstrom (16)  off the assist from Isaiah Lester (7) .  With 1:47 left in the match, Christian Stockton (15)  scored launching a left-footed bender that flew past the diving goalie's hands. This gave the Panthers a 2-1 victory.

Though Coach Aaron Welch was disappointed with the overall play of his squad, one highlight was the play of sophomore goalie Brice Loftin .  Loftin is doing an excellent job filling in for  recovering goalie Nick West .  The Panthers will get a chance to improve their performance as they will open play in the Highway 5 tournament on Thursday with another match against Community.
