Pantherettes Close Rough Week Against Sulphur Springs

Adam Routon

In life there are some weeks when nothing seems to go right and the best thing that can happen is just to make it through. Coach Duanna Ewell and her North Lamar Pantherettes are ready to move on after suffering some setbacks this week.

Coming out of a 2nd place finish in the King's Classic tournament, NL lost to a stacked Celina squad 8-1 on Tuesday. The only bright spot on that night was a late goal by Daisy Rangel (6) with the assist from Karlee Alexander (23). Friday night's matchup with Sulphur Springs was the third game in 8 days between the two squads.

Led by Shaina Brown (16) in goal, the Pantherettes defense played with determination but just could not stop the unrelenting offensive attack of the Wildcats. Likewise the NL offense pushed hard with multiple scoring opportunities but could not convert. The Pantherettes ended the week with a 3-0 loss, leaving them with a 4-6-2 record on the season.

NL looks to rebound next week with matches against Pleasant Grove on Monday and Sunnyvale on Friday, both at home. The Pantherettes will work to improve their performance as they look to district play in just over 3 weeks.
