Coach Mark Caldwell exudes optimism and pride in the NL soccer program, assuming the head coaching role for the 2019 season. The Panthers have had some success so far early this season, while some injuries and illnesses have put players in different positions.

The Panther Varsity squad spent last weekend playing in the Highway 5 Invitational tournament. Kshitiz Basnet gave NL a 1-0 lead over Ranchview, with goalie Hudson Jones holding on to a shutout until Ranchview finally scored with 45 seconds left to play. The game ended 1-1. The Panthers faced Sunnyvale next and goals by Basnet and Matthew Meredith resulted in a 2-2 tie. In the final match with ILT Garland, Ycielio Peralta held a shutout until there were 20 seconds left in the match. With NL’s offense held in check, they closed tourney play with the 0-1 loss.
