Pantherettes Finally Able to Play Softball

After cancelling games and tournaments due to weather and field conditions, the North Lamar Pantherettes were finally able to play some softball this weekend. After a two-week absence, North Lamar took to the field in Bonham on Friday and Texas A&M Commerce on Saturday.

North Lamar 13     Burkburnett 3

Reagan Richardson powered North Lamar at the plate and on the rubber Friday. Richardson racked up three RBIs on three hits for North Lamar. She singled in the second and sixth innings and tripled in the seventh inning.

Richardson baffled Burkburnett, striking out eight batters. Richardson allowed three earned runs on two hits and two walks over six innings.

North Lamar beat Burkburnett thanks to 12 hits, including five extra base hits. North Lamar managed to grab the lead after a strong fourth inning. A passed ball scored Lauren Hodges to give the Pantheretts the lead for good.

North Lamar built upon its lead with four runs in the sixth. Jaycie McEwin kicked things off with a double, bringing home Hannah Clark. That was followed up by Bill Jones' double, plating McEwin.

North Lamar tacked on another five runs in the seventh, as Bailee Nickerson homered to kick things off. That was followed up by Richardson's triple, plating Summer Andrews, Hodges and Madison Morrison.

Bonham 7    North Lamar 6

Bailee Nickerson did all she could to give North Lamar a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Bonham. Nickerson racked up three RBIs on three hits for North Lamar. She singled in the second inning, tripled in the fourth inning, and doubled in the fifth inning.

Fulmer, Jones and Odom helped lead Bonham. They combined for six hits and three RBIs.

The bottom of the second saw Bonham take an early lead, 3-0. Jones started the rally for Bonham with a double. A passed ball then moved Jones from second to third. Odom singled, plating Jones. Bonham pushed more runs across when Odom scored on an RBI double by Downs and Downs scored on an RBI single by Romans.

Bonham never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, scoring four runs on an RBI double by Foster and two singles.

North Lamar 4   Princeton 1

Bailee Nickerson went 2-3, helping North Lamar to a 4-1 victory over Princeton on Saturday at A&M Commerce. She singled in the second and third innings.

Reagan Richardson shut down Princeton while she was in the circle. Princeton managed just two hits off of the Pantherette's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out six during her five innings of work.

In the first inning, Princeton pushed across its only run of the day on a groundout.

North Lamar stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring two runs on an error and an RBI single by Sarah Penrose.

North Lamar matched its one-run third inning with one more in the fourth. In the the Pantheretts scored on an error, plating Nickerson.

North Lamar 7  Sherman 3

Tanna Huie had three RBIs as North Lamar took home a 7-3 victory over Sherman in six innings at A&M Commerce on Saturday. She tripled in the first inning and singled in the third.

North Lamar jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Madison Morrison got things going for the Pantheretts with a single. A stolen base then moved Morrison from first to second. She eventually scored when Huie tripled. North Lamar then tacked on more runs when Huie scored on a groundout by Bailee Nickerson.

Sherman posted one run in each of the first, second and fifth. In the first, Sherman scored on a sacrifice fly. The lead stayed with North Lamar Pantheretts Varsity after the third, when it scored two runs on an error and an RBI single by Huie.

North Lamar tacked on another two runs in the fifth. Kayla Igleheart started the inning with a single, scoring Sarah Penrose. That was followed up by Reagan Richardson's single, plating Jaycie McEwin.

North Lamar 9  Sulphur Springs 5

Tanna Huie drove in three runs as North Lamar Pantheretts Varsity took home a 9-5 victory over Sulphur Springs in four innings at A&M Commerce on Saturday. She singled in the first and third innings.

In the top of the first, North Lamar grabbed the early lead, 3-0. Madison Morrison doubled before Huie singled, bringing home Morrison. The Pantheretts then tacked on more runs when Huie scored on an RBI single by Sarah Penrose.

It didn't take long for Sulphur Springs to answer as it scored three runs of its own in the first. Sulphur Springs scored on an RBI single by Moore, an RBI single by Womack, and an error.

North Lamar went up for good in the second, scoring two runs on a two-run double by Jaycie McEwin. The Pantheretts added four more runs in the top of the third. A single by Reagan Richardson ignited the offense,, scoring Kayla Igleheart. That was followed up by Huie's single, scoring Lauren Hodges and Richardson.
