SoftballGreg Higgins

With the weather causing all kinds of problems in the Red River Valley, the Pantherettes were desperately needing some games to play before they open up district play Tuesday night. Luckily, they were able to get five games played between Thursday and Saturday. Here's the breakdown of the games:

C.C. 5    NL 2

Tanna Huie racked up two RBIs on two hits for North Lamar. She singled in the first inning and homered in the third inning.

Reagan Richardson put together a nice outing. Richardson gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out six during her 3 1/3 innings of work.

C.C. never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring three runs on An error and two singles, and increased its lead with two runs in the second.

After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the third, North Lamar faced just a 5-2 deficit. A two-run home run by Huie fueled the Pantheretts comeback. Erin Scholl flew out to end the North Lamar threat.

North Lamar 10   Community 0

A six-run explosion in the second inning hoisted North Lamar to a 10-0 win in four innings over Community on Thursday. North Lamar scored in the second on a three-run double by Sarah Penrose, an RBI double by Tanna Huie, and a two-run home run by Bailee Nickerson. Nickerson went a perfect 2-2 at the dish for North Lamar.

Reagan Richardson kept Community off the scoreboard for all four innings she was on the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up seven.

North Lamar 6   Elysian Fields 6

Elysian Fields and North Lamar played to a 6-6 tie on Saturday. Reagan Richardson looked sharp on the rubber. Elysian Fields managed just one hit off of the North Lamar pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during her two innings of work.

North Lamar 13  Celina 2

North Lamar jumped out to an early lead on Celina and captured a 13-2 victory on Saturday. With 10 runs in the first three innings, North Lamar eft no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A passed ball and a wild pitch during the first inning and a two-run single by Tanna Huie, a walk by Erin Scholl, an RBI single by Sarah Penrose in the second inning supplied the early offense for North Lamar

It was a good day at the plate for North Lamar's Huie. Huie went 2-3 and scored one run. She singled in the first inning and tripled in the third inning. The top of the second saw Ursuline take an early lead, 1-0. Mowery started the rally for Ursuline with a single. A single by Grindinger then moved Mowery from first to third.

North Lamar survived Ursuline's surge and put up one run of its own in the second. North Lamar Pantheretts Varsity scored on a wild pitch. It didn't take long for North Lamar to respond as it scored three runs of its own in the fifth.
