Pantherettes Start District Off with a Pair of Wins

The North Lamar Pantherettes Varsity team started district off in Liberty Eylau Friday night. The game was originally scheduled to be at North Lamar. However, LE was celebrating Homecoming Friday night and asked North Lamar head coach Kathy Barker if they could switch the site. North Lamar will now host LE on October 13 rather than travel to Texarkana. 

North Lamar defeated the Lady Leopards 25-13, 25-23, 27-25, 25-15. Bailey Foy led the team with 15 kilss and was 13/15 from the service line, including three aces. Bill Jones led the way with seven blocks (six assists and one solo), while Haley Porter had 22 assists. Kayla Igleheart had 17 assists for North Lamar.

On Tuesday night, the Pantherettes traveled to Atlanta and easily took care of the Lady Rabbits 25-12, 25-10, 25-14. Bill led the way with 10 kills. B. Foy had five blocks to lead the team (three assists and two solo) and was also 14/14 from the service line with four aces. Kayla led with 17 assists.

The varsity team will host Paris High Friday in their district home opener.

The JV team was also in action Tuesday night at Atlanta. They also defeated the Lady Rabbits in straight sets, 25-15, 25-16. Amber White and Katie Garrett each had three kills. Mary Gilbert finished with seven assists.

The Freshman won 25-11, 25-16. McKayla Figueroa had eight kills and Kimber Scott had seven assists.
