The North Lamar Pantherettes moved past Rusk in three sets (25-15, 25-12, 25-22) to move into the Regional Quarterfinals. It wasn't quite as easy as the score may indicate, though.
After dominating the first two sets, the third set gave the Pantherettes a little bit of a problem. Natalie Allen got the team out to a great start in the first two sets as she served seven points in the first set and another five in the second. North Lamar never looked back during those sets.
The third set, however, was a different story. Rusk came out of the gate with a flury. Rusk jumped out to a 14-7 lead before North Lamar made their comeback. Once again it was the serving of Allen that jumpstarted the team. With North Lamar trailing 15-13, Allen served five straight points. North Lamar never relinquished the lead.
All the attacking came from the girls up front for North Lamar. Bailey Foy and Karlie Ewell each had 15 kills. Bailee Nickerson had 10. Natalie finished 28/28 from the service line and also had 10 digs for the Pantherettes. Haley Porter had 30 assists in the three sets.
With the win, North Lamar will now face Emory Rains on Tuesday night. That game will be at the Sulphur Springs Middle School at 6:30pm.
